The Toshiba Qosmio (model: X505-Q8102) laptop features an Intel Core i7 processor, an 18.4″ display and Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.

This Pavilion is driven by the brand new Intel Core i7 processor model 2630QM.  This CPU is based on the Sandy Bridge microarchitecture.  This is a 64-bit, quad-core processor running at 2GHz. It can clock up to 2.8GHz with Intel’s TurboBoost technology.  This processor has 6MB of L3 cache and supports HyperThreading technology.  It uses 45W.  This laptop comes with 6GB of DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB.

The screen is an 18.4″ TFT-LCD high-definition display with a resolution of 1920×1080 and features Toshiba’s TruBrite technology.  That gives you the resolution to display full 1080p HD content natively.  The screen is driven by the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460M with 1.5GB GDDR5 discrete graphics memory. It is based on the GF106 core, which is related to the Fermi architecture.  That means it it supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.0, so you’ll have gaming compatibility.

For storage you get a 640GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 7200RPM.  That’s a nice huge drive with good speed specs.  The full 1080p screen is good because this Qosmio laptop comes with a Blu-ray Disc-enabled DVD±RW/CD-RW drive, which features read support for next-generation Blu-ray Disc (BD-ROM). Double-layer support using compatible media; supports DVD-RAM and Labelflash direct-disc labels using compatible Labelflash media. The media readers supports Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and MultiMediaCard formats.

For networking, you get a built-in 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN adapter for your wired networking needs.  You can connect wirelessly with the integrated 802.11 b/g/n wirless LAN adapter.  This laptop comes with Bluetooth 3.0 support with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) support.  In addition you can connect with the IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface for some high-speed data transfer.

Other external ports include 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 VGA port, 1 ExpressCard/34/54 slot, 1 headphone out and 1 microphone in port.

This Qosmio comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition.  Other software includes Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Silverlight and more. Also includes Microsoft Office Starter 2010 (product key card required for activation; sold separately).

The laptop measures 17.4″ x 11.6″ x 1.6″ and weighs 10.1 pounds, so you definitely don’t want to be lugging this thing around.  Most of the weight comes from the big screen and the 12-cell Lithium ion battery pack.

You can find the Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q8102 laptop for around $1600.
