ASUS launch the G73SW-A1 Gaming Laptop

Asus have teamed up with XoticPC to produce a laptop aimed at the gaming community, which is not the easiest markets to break into unless all of the right bases have been covered. it looks as if Asus of all computer makers, may have been listening gamers gripes and come up with the goods when they put the G73SW A1 laptop together, even has the look of an Alienware laptop too!


The display is the 17.3 inch high definition colour version with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Processor & Chipset are provided through the Intel Core Mobile i7 Sandy Bridge Quad Core Mobile Processors, which makes this the latest laptop to use the Sandy Bridge chips.

Storage is in the shape of two Detachable 2.5 inch (9.5 mm) (H) SATA Hard Disk Drives, with a 1 inch (12.7mm) (H) Optical Drive Bay, ATA Interface and an Interchangeable with DVD±R/RW Combo drive, Blu-ray/DVD±R/RW Combo Drive for video and copying of content for distribution.

Asus have provided a reasonable amount of memory with 64-bit wide DDRIII data channel, Fou 204 Pin SODIMM sockets and is expandable up to 16 GB DDRIII 1333 MHz.

Video Controller has to be the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M 1536MB DDR5 Video Memory anything less would turned the gamers off completely, so Asus score with this feature.

When it comes to network and communications is an integrated V.92 MDC Fax/Modem, with AC-Link Version 2.1 Compliant, built-in Gigabit Ethernet LAN and Bluetooth V2.1+EDR. As well as the Integrated 802.11 b/g/n with Optional Intel Centrino Advance-N 6200 – 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module.
The G73SW A1 comes with all of the ports expected such as the 8 in 1 card reader, SD, MMC, MS, MS-Pro, xD, mini SD w/ adapter, MS-Duo and a MS-Pro Duo via adapter, they appear to have all the bases covered in this department.

Additional features include the handy backlit keyboard as gamers almost certainly will be in a place where light is not a priority; it has the Kensington Lock so that the laptop can be chained to a desk.
The laptop is on the heavy side weighing in at 8.5 pounds with the 8 cell battery installed, the dimensions of this monster laptop are 16.33″ x 12.59″ x 1.8″ (W x D x H). Finally though not altogether for gamers in the built-in 2.0 M Digital Video Camera, Optical Mouse and there is even carrying bag Included in with price, is this a gamers laptop or what!
