Christmas may be over for most of us, but the gifts just seem to keep coming from the computer maker MSI. They have been very over the past few months and with the firm preparing to launch a new laptop aimed at gamers using the new Sandy Bridge platform from Intel; it has to be worth a look.
The GX680 FHD is the not so glamorous name given to this machine, which is expected to hit the stores by either February or March. However, buyers will know that Christmas is definitely, over when they notice the starting price of around $2,400, as we know starting prices have a tendency to creep up as the buyer is tempted by additional extras and options.
So what exactly does $2,400 buy you from MSI?
First up, it is a 15.6 inch notebook with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display and it packs a high end Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU. This is a processor that comes with four cores and with a highly usable 2.2 GHz default clock. However, as expected this is something that should be able to be over clocked a bit more, which is even better news. The four cores support eight threads, while the processor comes with a handy 512 KB L2 cache and 6 MB of L3 cache.
The machine also comes with an Intel high definition with integrated graphics, there is also the GeForce GTX 460M graphics with 1.5 GB of GDDR5 memory as well as a high definition capable webcam.
To compliment all of that the laptop comes with 4 GB of memory as well as up to two hard drives of 500 GB each. There is also a Blu-ray drive for DVD’s and very desirable nine cell battery, which is excellent for the user who is also going to be out of the home or office for some time.
But that is not all the MSI GX680 laptop comes with Windows 7 Ultimate operating system and as a little bonus there is Assassin’s Creed II installed, a gaming mouse, a gaming bag and it will be available in black on black or grey on black colour choices.
Priced at around $2,400
