The eMachines ED725-4187 laptop features an Intel Pentium processor, a 14″ display and Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.

The Intel inside is the Pentium (Model: T4500) processor.  This is one of Intel’s older dual-core processors, as it was released almost 2 years ago.  This is a 64-bit, dual-core processor running at 2.3GHz.  It has an 800MHz front-side bus and 1MB of L2 cache.  The laptop comes with 2GB of DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 4GB.


The screen is a 14″ HD LCD with a resolution of 1366×768 and a brightness of 220-nit.  It sports a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen is driven by the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M (Intel® GMA 4500M) with up to 1759 MB of Intel® Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 (64 MB of dedicated video memory, up to 1695 MB of shared system memory), supporting Microsoft® DirectX® 10.

For storage you get a 250GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive.  This is a smallish drive for a laptop these days.  The optical drive is an 8x SuperMulti DVD double-layer drive.

For wired web connections you get a 10/100 Ethernet LAN adapter for surfing with wires. For wireless you get the standard 802.11 b/g/n adapter, so you can walk around with your laptop in your hands and still be on the web. You can use these connections with the .3 megapixel webcam and integrated digital microphone to do some video chatting.

External ports includ 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, 1 headphone out, and 1 microphone in.

The system comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.  Other software includes Microsoft Works 8.5 with Office Home and Student 2007 Trial, McAfee Internet Security Suite, eMachines GameZone, Launch Manager, NTI CD/DVD Maker and Corel WinDVD.

The laptop measures 13.3″ x 8.9″ x 1.0″/1.6″ and weighs 5.29 pounds.  It comes with a 6-cell (4400 mAh) Li-ion battery pack provides up to 3 hours of unplugged power.  It also comes with a 65W AC adapter.  This laptop meets EPA level 4 (Energy Star 2.0) standards.
